+ Attendance of Visiting Chinese Officials from Yangtze River and Western Provinces

It doesn’t get more timely or topical than for the bi-annual USCPFA National Washington D.C. Conference to coincide with the April 20, 2006 meeting of Presidents Hu and Bush in our nation’s capital.  Come to this meeting and learn more about the manifold opportunities available to you through the US-China Peoples Friendship Association, particularly through activities of the National USCPFA organization, both in China and the U.S.  Dr. Krasemann will focus on memorable events in China he and other USCPFA members have had the pleasure to participate in, including his meetings and rides with Dr. Henry Kissinger and U.S. Ambassador Stapleton Roy, and others’ meetings with officials like Hu Chili, who, as a politburo member and leading reformer, was one of the three most powerful officials in China during the 20 years prior to Hu Jintao’s Presidency.  The Chicago Chapter’s Midwest Region Scholarship Recipient, Eric Wasserman, a COD student of USCPFA Board Member and COD Professor, Jane Wu, will report on meetings with State Department officials and Chinese Embassy officials and the reception at the Chinese Embassy, which were part of the Conference.

Dr. Keith Krasemann is Professor of Philosophy and Director of the Regional Center for Asian Studies Development Programs at College of DuPage.  Dr. Krasemann has authored or edited ten books and numerous articles.  His latest book, with Dr. Patricia H. Werhane, is titled Contemporary Issues in Business Ethics: The Callista Wicklander Lectures.  A one-time Fulbright professor in China, Krasemann has been a member of the USCPFA for a dozen years and has served in a variety of capacities, including member of the Midwest Region and National boards and President of the DeKalb Chapter.  While on the National Board, Keith joined with Chicago Chapter President Roger Noback to help head up and Chair the 2003 National Convention, hosted and organized by the Chicago Chapter.  He has contributed a variety of articles for publication in the US-China Review, the USCPFA National quarterly magazine.

An added meeting feature is the attendance of visiting officials (e.g., National People’s Congress Deputy) from Yangztse and Western Provinces, including Hubei Prov. (e.g., Wuhan) and Ningxia A.R.

A sizeable crowd of first time attendees and existing members and friends attended the second in our Series on Chinese Medicine: Acupuncture in Chinese Medicine, at the Chapter’s third meeting in Naperville on April 23.

The speaker, Dr. Chih Wei Rei, 630.357.7320, is a credit, and brings honor, to his profession.
