ACUPUNCTURE IN CHINESE MEDICINE

By Drs. Chih-wei Rei and Yazhang Wang Wang

Continuing the Series on Chinese Medicine

This talk is the second in our series on Chinese Medicine, which began in January.  The presentation by this husband and wife team of doctors will discuss the following topics:

1.  New Developments in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine

2.  What can Chinese Medicine treat?

3.  How to find a qualified acupuncturist and Chinese herbalist.

4.  Chinese medicine and your health (what works, what will not work)

Dr. Chih-wei Rei graduated from one of China's leading Traditional Chinese Medicine colleges in Shanghai, majoring in Acupuncture.  He practiced Chinese medicine and acupuncture in Shanghai for years before he came to the U.S. where he received a doctor of Chiropractic.  Due to his knowledge and expertise in Acupuncture, he taught acupuncture and Chinese medicine at the College of Chiropractic in Downers Grove.  His wife, Dr. Yazhang WangWang, was also a graduate from the Shanghai Traditional Chinese Medicine college where she earned her undergraduate and masters degree.  Dr. Wang worked at Rush Presbyterian Hospital as a researcher for many years before she joined her husband's busy practice in Lisle, IL.

In future months, the Series on Chinese Medicine will alternate from time to time with another Series on Managing Cultural Differences in Business between Chinese and Westerners, and other programs.  Other topics contemplated in the Managing Cultural Differences Series include without limitation guanxi (a frequently misused and misunderstood concept), extended family, ren, Chinese pride in their culture and the Westerner’s advantage in knowing and appreciating it, and other aspects of Chinese business and social life.  On March 19, an overflow crowd heard an insightful introduction to the Cultural Differences series by Chapter Board member, Mr. Shi Han, www.chinaline.com.  The May 21 meeting is scheduled at the House of Fortune Restaurant, 2407 S. Wentworth Ave., Chinatown.  The April 23 meeting is scheduled on the 4th Sun., since the third Sun.is Easter.

Typically, the regular monthly Chapter meeting is held on the third Sunday of the month and includes a delicious traditional Chinese multi-course meal, which begins at 2 pm; the hour long luncheon talk (with Q&A) begins at 3 pm; and all this is only $15.  Meetings are typically scheduled on odd numbered months for Chicago’s Chinatown (e.g., May, July) and on even numbered months (e.g., April, June) for either Evanston (North Suburbs) or Naperville (West Suburbs).  Please attend and bring a friend.  Please reserve in advance at AssociationSvcs@aol.com (indicate USCPFA in subject line) or call 847.251.1400, ext. 0 (members have priority seating).                      Cfade42306FINALema
